Acceptable Use Policy

Sea to Sky Freenet Association

ALL USERS OF THE HOTSPOT LAB AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Drop in Users are served on a first come-first served basis.  Use of the facilities is subject to the posted Fee Policy.  Users must monitor their own time on the computer.  Please see the front desk for information on our Free Access Times.
  2. Everyone using the lab must SIGN IN whether they have to pay or not. This is so we can count the number of users we have each day.
  3. All users must SIGN OUT when they leave whether they have to pay or not.
  4. Payment is accepted in cash only.
  5. Sharing computers and computer time is not permitted.  Each person who uses a computer must sign in and pay the user fee.
  6. Once on a computer, users should remain there and not change computers unless a staff member or volunteer say that it is okay.
  7. Users must pay for every sheet of paper that they print.  Unwanted sheets (such as accidental printouts, too many copies, extra page at the end of a document, etc.) must be paid for by the user whether they want to keep the pages or not.  The Printing fees are posted at the front desk.
  8. Cell phone use is not permitted in the lab; users must step outside to use their cell phone.
  9. Users should respect all of the staff, volunteers and fellow lab users.  Inappropriate language or behavior will NOT be tolerated.
  10.  Files may be temporarily saved to:
    • S:\HOTSPOT USERS FOLDER/your name
  11. Files saved to this folder are accessible by all lab users and therefore may accessed, erased, or modified by any person, at any time.
  12. It is the user’s responsibility to delete files that contain confidential information.
  13. The Sea to Sky Freenet Association is not responsible for the content of files authored by its users, nor is it responsible for the deletion or damage to files saved in any computer directory or folder.
  14. For secure saving floppy’s, cd’s dvd’s & Flash Drives, are available for sale at the front desk.
  15. The lab is a public space used by all members of the community including children.  There are no filters on the Internet connection.  Users should respect others and refrain from inappropriate material on the computers at all times.
  16. The Installation of games or programs is only allowed with the permission and supervision of a staff member or volunteer.
  17. Users are not allowed to adjust the settings on the computers.  If a user requires a setting changed for their individual use (such as the text size or monitor resolution), permission must be received from a staff member or volunteer.  The user is required to restore the setting before leaving.
  18. For safety reasons, users should never touch wires and cables, please ask a staff or volunteer to discuss if something needs to be adjusted.
  19. Staff and volunteers reserve the right to take appropriate action should anyone fail to comply with this user policy agreement.  The computer stations are the property of the Sea to Sky Freenet Association and the staff and volunteers have absolute discretion to terminate the use of a computer station by any person, at any time.
