AN
UNDERGROUND ADVENTURE at the

Experience the sights
and sounds of a real hard rock mine at the B.C. Museum of Mining
in beautiful Britannia Beach, now a National Historic Site and
B.C. Historic Landmark. Located on the site of the once active
Britannia Copper Mines, the Museum offers a realistic mining
adventure for all ages. At the Museum, B.C.'s mining heritage
comes to life, and learning has never been so much fun! The tour
includes a historical video, a visit to the Mining House (which
offers three levels of displays and exhibits), and visitors board
a train which takes them through a mine tunnel and a demonstration
of old and new methods of drilling, blasting, mucking, slushing
and rock stabilization. After the train ride the tour takes one to
the base of the Concentrator, Mill Number 3. This famous Howe
Sound landmark rises an imposing six stories up the steep
mountainside. Built in 1922 to concentrate Britannia's copper ore,
it is one of the last remaining gravity-fed concentrators in North
America. For more information please visit our Web
Site.
