... we are located off the Sea to Sky highway between Vancouver and Whistler, home to about three hundred residents and several oddities such as the ex-potbelly pig named Wart who was recently deported on account of violent behavior (but that's another story). Britannia Beach originally came to be because of a mineral discovery by Dr. A. A. Forbes in 1888 which led to the development of a copper mine, followed by a community. The mine, once the largest producer of copper in the British Empire, closed down in 1974, became the BC. Museum of Mining and in 1988 was designated a National Historic Site. Britannia Beach offers exquisite scenery, historical intrigue , unique arts and crafts , local cuisine and genuine village life . Yes there are quite a few things to see, so please enjoy our web site and visit us! |
